Vardhman Millenium Yarn

Acrylic Yarn

8ply / DK / Worsted Weight

7 mm Knitting Needles

This was a set I made as a wedding gift for my colleague. This was the first wedding gift I had to give after learning to knit. The couple liked them as it was something different from what they usually get and I had fun making them. The added advantage of just making a pink and blue scarf is much easier than trying to figure out what kind of gift to get and how much I want to spend. As for the pattern I just went with garter stitch.

Vardhman Babysoft Yarn

Acrylic Yarn

4ply / Fingering Weight

4 mm Crochet Hook

This was a nice quick project as a gift for a colleague. I was in a hurry and needed something quick which meant it had to be a small project. While looking for inspiration I found this scrunchie design and really like it. So I modified it for a bookmark. Needless to say I was happy with the results.

This one is also for our family friend. After the seed stitch I just glanced through the stitch library and picked this basket weave stitch at random.

I wanted to make something for a family friend of ours and also wanted to mix knit and purl stitches. After going through the stitch library I decided to use the seed stitch. It helped me learn to knit and purl at almost the same speed. I also found out that Continental knitting is much easier than English knitting (for me). If you’re just starting to learn to knit I recommend seed stitch for your first project. It’ll help you decide which knitting style suits you and give you practice with both stitches. A lot of people don’t like purling because it’s so much slower, but as they say, practice makes perfect.

Another tip is to always slip the first stitch when starting a new row. It results in nice neat edges for flat knits. Also if you use the crochet cast on and bind off the entire project has similar looking edges.

I had ordered some samples from http://www.silkindian.com and I accidentally got this skein dirty. I had to cut the portions that were stained and decided to just knit a scarf.
